Telegent Pc Tv Solution Wins At Ibc 2009

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands at IBC 2009 - September 14, 2009 - Telegent Systems, the company that makes television mobile, today announced that it has been named best in class for ‘Best terrestrial wireless contribution/distribution/transmission solution’ in the CSI Product Awards 2009. Presented on Friday 11th September at IBC, the awards recognize companies making a difference to cable, satellite, terrestrial, broadcast and IPTV services. Telegent won the award for its TLG2300 PC TV solution, which is the industry’s first single-chip PC TV receiver able to receive digital and analog free-to-air terrestrial broadcast signals, supporting DVB-T, NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards.

The TLG2300’s low thermal profile and small size enables digital and analog PC TV to be reliably embedded as an internal feature, making live TV possible in a wide range of portable applications including low-cost netbooks. Its small size enables an attractive form factor for external applications such as TV tuner dongles. The TLG2300’s support for both digital and analog broadcast TV standards provides manufacturers with a global market, and in markets where transition from analog to DVB-T is underway, the TGL2300 provides the broadest broadcast TV signal coverage.

Diana Jovin, Telegent’s VP Corporate Marketing commented, “The CSI awards are all about innovation and recognizing a creative approach to delivering TV services, and we are delighted to be recognized for the TLG2300’s technical achievements. The TLG2300’s technical breakthroughs in heat, size and power can enable live TV to be embedded as a standard feature in portable devices, providing consumers with convenience and choice with respect to where and how they access free-to-air terrestrial TV programming. This live programming continues to deliver the most compelling content to consumers worldwide.”

The awards are organized by Cable and Satellite International, a prominent technology magazine focused on the cable, satellite, terrestrial broadcasting, and IPTV sectors. The awards are judged by an independent panel of experts that consists of respected consultants, senior industry analysts and the current and former heads of acclaimed engineering firms and network operators from around the world.

More than 40 million consumers worldwide use TV handsets with Telegent’s analog free-to-air mobile TV technology, which provides mobile access to the same free-to-air terrestrial programming that consumers receive on conventional television sets. Building on its success in the mobile TV handset market, Telegent expanded its product portfolio to include hybrid digital and analog PC TV receivers.
